08.19.07

I believe I am going to keep blogging on this website, to keep in touch, and just in case someone is interesting about how a Cosmos girl mind changes over time.

Well, it has been 2 weeks since I came back, and this 2 weeks have not felt like vacations at all, because I been so busy at my house cleaning and cooking. I barely had some time this friday and saturday to actually catch up with my friends. One of my cousins from Mexicali came over, she brought 2 boks with her, they are pretty interesting and I am about to be done with one of them.

Also, I would love to use this space to thank everyone from Cosmos, specially my professors and TAs.

Lately, I been also "trying on" my motherhood side by babysitting my just born niece. I think she is the cutest, but then again she is my blood and that's probably why I think she is the cutest.

Now, I am planning on making the best out of the week that I have left. I don't have much time but I still have a lot of things on my agenda.

It is almost done!
Yay! and Oh how Sad!
That is pretty much how all of us here at COSMOS are feeling. It is a weird confusion between sadness for leaving and happines for finally going back home to normal life. Today over the phone I was rasoning about how this feels like a big brother you feel like you are missing something "out there"(meaning hometown). Yet, you have come to know the people here so much because you are practically with them 24/7. Today our video and backboard are finally done, and I must admit "i don't like the result". But as I heard once I added to my vocabulary "we are in here in COSMOS to learn...take anything on the learning mode, if you messed up, just reflect about what would you do next time, how to take it this knowledge and apply it back home".
Well, also today my team noticed that there were 2 other teams doing the same Ideal as we are, and even one of the teams as the same introductory song. Yes, it sux, but not really, because at least this video is like a memory. Everytime we look at it, it takes us back in time to tht memory. And I think it is great! Because yes, the video has it flaws and yes the backboard was chopped, but that video has a meaning to me. Maybe not the best project ever, but it left a mark on me. I.E. today we turned the tv on and "The sisterhood of the traveling pants" was on and we saw Adobe Premiere pro being use by the girl on the movie, all of us (my team) started laughing.
It is good to go back home and wait anxiously for my niece to be born! Hug friends! Feed my dog! and so many others things.

Yes!!
Today was Sonia's bday!! but I missed the celebration because I went to a small talk with a man that evaluates the program. Yesterday was Mrs. Miranda b day! She said she was going to do something over the weekend to celebrate her b day but she did not exactly hinted that it was that day.
Even though I did not spent lunch with my friends today I noticed something that makes me really sad and disappointed. Ok. It is a little bit complicated, the fact that I have been hanging around with the same people and not actually doing the activities just because I liked them but because of whether or not some of my new friends would be on my team really limited me up on making new friendships. Only on my way to Cafe Ventanas and back I met interesting people, that I had seen before but did not actually talked to them since I always sit and hang around with the same people.

Too bad I barely noticed this until now. I am kind of disappointed to myself because I was silent and shy, and the true is that I am not like that not at all! May be just the fact that the group of friends I am surrounded with are so loud and talkative that my "personality" does not have to be out there all the time in order to keep the conversation going. Lately, Catalina has been asking me "do you remember when at the first week it was only you and me?" . And it is so true, our table would be so empty that R.A.s would come and eat with us. Not like that is a bad thing because it forced me to actually eat in front of people I don't know. Now moving on I saw my two counselors. Mr. Ramos and Ms. Cato, they came here for a counselor session. It was nice seeing them.
Well right now Teresa is finishing up a clip and I am trying to entertain myself by writing this blog, but since I don't have anything NEW or INTERESTING to say I shall leave.

Tuesday

Today in the residential life we had a fundatory activity, even though they should call them mandatory. It was the movie "the italian job", popcorn, journals, and water was given. I set on the back role sorting all the pictures I collected from my floor mates.
The sorting took a while but it helped on working with the files in order to make them into small videos.

Monday
Today was karaoke Monday
In class we worked all day on the final video. It is looking pretty good specially the cute chick animation that Teresa did! It took her a loooooooooong time because she had to do frame by frame. It was fun, even though I did not get to sing (well not with the microphone). I tried BUBBA I almost chock on it but it was all right.

Weekend
In summary, I hope I can remember what I did this weekend. First, on Friday we worked on our projects. Back then we had a lot of things to get done. Everybody is playing GOTCHA (well almost everybody) so I am helping my friends to don't get caught.
Saturday
Zoo!
what I remember about the zoo is how tired I was!!
Seriously, me and my COSMOs friends would look for any chance possible to sit down. Our legs could not take it anymore. The panda was sleeping :( but the polar bear was the coolest one of the animals I got to see. I also remember that all through out the day we would discuss how the poor animals don't have a life and they are uncomfortable by having a limited space to play with.

Sunday!!Talent Show!!
Ok. Sunday was talent show day, some of my friends (the skittles) performed the Napolean dance, and it came out pretty good, but I have to admit that my favorite talent show was The backstreet girls performed by David and his floor roomies. They had a nice choreography that was all done my themselves. One thing that I perfectly remember was that Mr. Pasquale was sitting next to us. He came! It is actually curious how our professors and T.A.s really care about us (cluster #1). They are always on top of us (in the good sense). It is noticeably how they care for us.

Thursday 26th

Today we review presentation skills. We watched a small documentary on behind the scenes of "finding nemo". We discussed the DO's and Don'ts of presentations, information that we will hopefully apply later on science fairs (in my case Solar Olympics and MESA). In the afternoon session we had a lecture on Algorithms, even though I love Math this type of Math makes me think so hard it gives me headaches. That is why I rely upon sugar(it helps).
Tonight we will have a Bone Fire, yoyo with Liz!, and the Chickadees will start shooting tonight.
